Pilates at Newport’s owner Gloria Scott, has practiced Pilates for 22 years and holds a VETAB approved Diploma of Professional Pilates Practice (91120NSW) from Pilates International Training Centre; a Diploma of Sports Therapies from Nature Care College; and a Level 3 Full Membership (5,000 teaching hours) with Pilates Alliance Australasia. Pilates at Newport is one of twenty two registered Studio with this industry body.
The Studio is equipped with Stott Pilates Reformers, Wunda Chair and Trapeze which enables clients to rotate their workouts to different equipment on each session. There is also mat classes with small equipment and the class size does not go above 8 people to a class. All the equipment which includes, mats, magic circles, therobands, foam rollers, arm and leg weights used in the class is provided by the Studio.
Pilates gets your mind in tune with your body by emphasising proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment and complete concentration in smooth, flowing movement. The quality of movement is more important than the number of repetitions. Correct breathing helps you execute movements with maximum power and efficiency. Last but not least, learning to breathe properly can reduce stress.
One of the safest workouts available
Many of the exercises are performed in reclining or sitting positons, and most are low impact and partially weight bearing. Pilates is so safe that it is used in physical therapy facilities to rehabilitate injuries.
